Judy Travers: Judy Baker-Travers is a Norfolk native who earned her BFA in sculpture from Old Dominion University (ODU). Previous work, including sculpture, drawings and paintings, has been shown in the Chrysler Museum at Norfolk, at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, at the Jewish Community Center in Richmond, the Gloucester on Main Art Center in Gloucester, VA, the Rappahannock Art Gallery in Kilmarnock, VA, the Hampton Convention Center, Suffolk-Nansemond Academy in Suffolk, the Williamsburg Contemporary Arts Center, the Stryker Center in Williamsburg and the Charles Taylor Art Center in Hampton, VA.
Travers is an abstract expressionist whose work James Warwick Jones calls dynamic, active, energetic, expressive and well composed.
With each new painting, Travers continues to explore repetition and variation in colors, movement, textures and layering to draw the viewer's attention around the whole painting.
