Stitch Meditation encourages us to take a short time each day for a calming activity that helps us expand creatively. Ann learned this practice while taking a Creative Strength Training class from renowned fiber artist Jane Dunnewold. The idea is to make one timy artwork daily that incorporates fabric and threads. The goal is to keep the work simple enough to complete in 30-40 minutes which is manageable as a daily exercise. You will learn what you need and how to organize yourself - to get you off to a good start, you will create one or two pieces during the workshop.
Suppies: Please bring your own scissors. Bring $15 for a kit - enough for 5 meditations. Includes 3-4 sizes/types of needles, 5 pre-cut easy-to-stitch-on background fabrics with precut flannel backings, and a broad selection of color-coordinated threads, fabric bits, beads or other embellishments. Threads include silks, cotton, linen, hand-dyed, 6 & 12 strand floss, perle 5, and heavier weights suitable for couching. There will be plenty for the workshop, plus extra for later. Or, bring your own supplies: Two or three 2"X3" pieces of background fabric, same number/size flannel backing, and a variety of fabric scraps, threads and embellishments.
