In this two hour workshop, learn how to make a purse or pouch using wool, silk fibers, soap and water - no prior felting experience necessary. You will cover laying out different fibers, working with a resist, and different types of soap and shrinkage. You will also explore how the same resist (pattern) can yield different sized purses depending on how the student makes the final cut. Barb will guide you every step of the way and you will complete your project during this workshop - go home with a beautiful purse or vessel of your own making!
Supplies: Please bring two absorbant handtowels (or handtowel and washcloth) and a pair of sharp ended scissors. If you are sensitive to prolonged contact to soap and water, bring a pair of plastic gloves. Pre-made kits - $14 due to Barb at the beginning of workshop. Please email Barb with your favorite colors at registration - firstname.lastname@example.org. Purse closures are not included - you may want to choose how it closes.
