Judge’s Comments:  Cindy May’s oil painting "Howdy" is a delightful portrait with the story line set of a young boy trying to wear a big cowboy hat, perhaps his father’s, as he contemplates life chewing on a piece of straw. The richly painted portrait is cropped and composed to add a touch of comedy without taking away from the very endearing tender appeal of the image.
